The “Hong Kong International Convention for Safe and Environ­mentally Sound Recycling of Ships” (HKC) of IMO addresses more than old ships or recyclers. The whole maritime industry faces new challenges. Also existing legislation like SOLAS regarding hazardous materials is getting more in the focus.
